2019 9/10 Live Pitch League (with Coaches Draft)
New Pitch Count Rules for 2019Updated Wednesday April 3, 2019 by Scott Hurt.
The EYB 9/10 Live Pitch League is designed to develop players from a pitching machine and/or coach pitch league to the next level of baseball where the players pitch on their own. At this level, players will be able to steal after the ball crosses the plate. Catchers will be allowed to attempt to throw out would-be base stealers. Hitters will learn the art of the bunt. Fielders will learn how to adjust to the array of different situations that may come in play during a game, i.e. runners at first and third with less than two outs, a runner at third with less than two outs, etc.
The games will last six innings or 1.5 hours, whatever comes first. As in the East 7/8 Structured Coach Pitch League, all players on the roster are required to play at least two defensive innings in a full six inning game, and each team will bat their entire lineup. However, teams will only field nine players at a time versus the 10 players used in the 7/8 league.
Finally, it is important to East that we monitor pitchers' workload to limit the likelihood of pitching fatigue. So, beginning in the Spring 2019 season, EYB will implement the Pitch Smart pitch count guidelines, located on MLB.com.

9/10 Live Pitch League with Coaches Draft Tryouts | Cost $140.00
Players must attend at least one tryout to be eligible. The below dates and times are for our 9/10 League only.
*Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your respective start times.
Our 9/10 Live Pitch League is designed for players wanting a dynamic, competitive baseball environment comprised of ballplayers ages 9 and 10 years old.
All returning players who were part of the 9/10 year old league last year will be placed back on the team they played for in 2018, unless the league is directed otherwise by the parents or guardians for that child to be placed back in the pool of open players to be drafted on a team for 2019. In those instances, players must attend tryouts again in 2019. Team selection is based on available space and specific team needs. What is a guarantee is that not every player who will tryout will be drafted. Those not selected for the 9/10 Live Pitch League, will be assigned to a team in our 9-12 year old Minor League instructional pitching machine league. As long as we are able to complete assessments as outlined above, we should have all teams placed for practices to begin the week of March 4th.
